a meme.

First and last lines of the last ten stories I've posted in reverse chronological order (I saw this on [info]nycscribbler's journal last, I think):

in the black hills, the badlands, the calloused east

Got Savage Wars of Peace: Small Wars and the Rise of American Power, by Max Boot for a little, light bedtime reading.

Also, a meme stolen from [info]nycscribbler

1. Comment to this post with the name of a character that I have written in fic. Or geeked out about.

2. I will comment telling you the following:
a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
b. One of his/her best traits.
c. One of his/her worst traits.
d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
e. The story/chapter/paragraph/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character*.
f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.

piano man

i've run out of thoughts and i've run out of words

The regular season's over, and I feel all jittery about having to wait until Sunday for the first playoff game, but I'll manage.

You know. The first person I saw do a DVD commentary on their fic was [info]thorne_scratch. And that was AGES ago. But anyway, if anyone wants commentary on fic -- from any fandom: bandslash, SPN, NBA, or SwimSlash -- let me know. [info]horizon_greene, I don't think I can whip up fic in time for your birthday (I will try -- do you want me to finish the current Eddie/Melo/JR, or do you want to request a ficlet of some sort?). OR, I could do commentary on something if you wanted.

Also, I've always wanted to read commentary on something of [info]asoutherthing's. If she's so inclined. :)

And lastly. I need music recs. What are you listening to that I should be listening to and why?

bringing sexy back

strap your memories to your back and hang that noose around your neck

OMG. Let's do the character meme!

1. Pete Wentz
2. Boris Diaw
3. Ryan Ross
4. JR Smith
5. Patrick Stump
6. LeBron James
7. Allen Iverson
8. Eddie Najera
9. Steve Nash
10. Kobe Bryant
11. Carmelo Anthony
12. Jon Walker

This time I answered the majority of the twenty two questions in drabble form. Not betaed, of course, Just for crack.

Various pairings include but are not limited to: Steve Nash/Patrick Stump, Allen Iverson/Patrick Stump, Jon Walker/Boris Diaw, and WAIT FOR IT -- Melo/Ryan Ross. Then there are the threesomes, the hookers and the evil eyebrows. Also, ratings on the drabbles range from PG-hard R. )

she swore out the lights when she damned herself to sleep

Apparently, it's going to snow tonight. No. Wait. I mean SNOW. Like, I heard three emergency broadcasts on my commute today that were like, *BEEPBEEPBEEP* "Hey assholes, you have until midnight to get your shit together because right about then? The weather gods are gonna unleash hell. Good luck."

Having a snow day tomorrow would be generally awesome. And if that happened, I would:

1) Finish a Spencer!centric Panic kink!fic that is already ridiculously cracked out and long. And when I say kink, I'm not bullshitting.
2) Finish FOB angst.
3) Finish Pete/Patrick Bike!Punk AU.
4) Finish Eddie/Melo or maybe Melo/Eddie get it on. Or off. Or whatever.
5) Deeply consider SPN porn.
6) Write a lecture on Communist China. And/or grade the last of my midterms.

The Lucero/Rocky concert was, as expected, the kind of amazing that you want to bottle and have chilled, in your fridge, for rough days later on in the year.

There were many of us and we were all mashed against the stage and each other and we were all drinking pina coladas (wait, what?), and screaming the words to all the songs until we couldn't anymore. By the end of the night, I smelled like pot, dust, and coconut.

My brother's girlfriend and I are considering going to the 30STM, Head Automatica, Cobra Starship concert in a couple weeks. I'm not sure why, other than OMG TRECKETT. But, you know. Jared is usually so underwhelming. He could be the dealbreaker there.

UM. There is this meme in which you ask me who I ship in any fandom and why, and then I have an excuse to talk fandom. SO ASK AWAY: Swimporn, NFL or NBA RPS, SPN (the show or the actors), Farscape, Buffy/Angel, SG1, CSI: Anywhere, House, Six Feet Under, bandslash, etc.

i can feel it in the air tonight, hold on

So, I cut about three inches off of my hair yesterday. That's pretty awesome. Also, I finished an original fic that I'm thinking about posting here.

The only other thing that might possibly be exciting in my life is the Matisyahu concert on Thurs. I'll let everyone know how that goes.

But hey. I did ye olde character meme. I mixed and matched the most fucked up characters I could think of and my brain is utterly melted. We have:

1. Carmelo Anthony
2. Brendon Urie
3. Davey Havok
4. Dwyane Wade
5. LeBron James
6. Eddie Najera
7. Sam Winchestor
8. Boris Diaw
9. Christian Kane
10. Patrick Stump
11. Jake Plummer
12. Dean Winchestor

And as a result? hooker!LeBron, Master Criminal D. Wade, Jake Plummer in numerous improbable situations, gratuitous mention and use of Laker games as deus ex machina, bandslash and incest )

I also saw Miami Vice yesterday. Oh, Colin. ColinColinColin. The accent kills.

"But he was, as it were, only insane on the outside."

On my way home tonight, I remembered, last minute, that I needed milk or I was going to be eating a cheese sandwich for breakfast. There was a problem, though. See, the only think open around here (as I've mentioned before) is The Ghetto Safeway. The one with The Squeaky Toy. The real problem with it, however, is the cops. They just congregate there. And I had this feeling that if I wandered in that direction then I was going to forget to signal or turn into the wrong lane or SOMETHING.

Fifty feet from the Safeway I looked in the rearview and I saw the bubble lights. Then? Sirens. Oh hell yeah. I warranted sirens.

For what, you ask? Did I have a kilo of coke in my tire? A body in my trunk? Two tanks of nitros running to my heavily modified engine? No. It was worse. I had (dumdumdum) a headlight out. And now, thank to My City's Finest, it will cost me $60 to fix it, plus the cost of the bulb. I salute them. They have served and protected me.

And I forgot the milk.

In sports news, The Snake was named AFC offensive player of the week for his 300 and more yards passing without an interception and six touchdowns against the Eagles.

*feeds him a mouse*

Also, the Nuggets have now lost to both the Spurs and the Lakers. But, it's not all bad in the NBA because Najera is very inspirational.

Speaking of fic, how about that meme?

Ask me what happens after the end of any of my stories and I'll tell you what I know.

All of my stories are in My Memories.

And lastly, here's what made me laugh today. A YIM conversation between [info]horizon_greene and I about sports:

[info]horizon_greene: i know
[info]horizon_greene: it's scary what's happened to us with these sports
[info]shadow_shimmer: yes. we've become FANS
[info]shadow_shimmer: at least, y'know, there are no cheeseheads involved
[info]horizon_greene: omg i know
[info]horizon_greene: we'd really have to reevaluate ourselves if we started wearing bright yellow headgear

Here are six of my current favorite songs. (I would do the uploading thing but I have dial-up and do you have any idea how long that would take and how late it is right now?)

We're All Schroedinger's Cat

There is no earthly reason for me to use that subject line.

Anyway, have any of you ever read Celestial Harmonies by Peter Esterhazy? It's so post-modern that it (by definition) is practically meaningless; yet, it seems so profound.

Oh well. I had this whole post planned out about my week and what an utter bitch it was, but I thought this little meme thing was a better use of my time and yours. It's funny. Trust me.

Fairly accurate, really.

Thursday

Pour me a drink, and I'll tell you some lies . . .

My questions and the meme are from [info]sodiumlight

1. Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2. I'll respond and ask you five questions.
3. Update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4. Include this explanation in your post.
5. You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

Go behind the cut to see what she asked me, and my rambling responses. Then comment, and I'll rack my brain to ask YOU something :)
