i've read hundreds of books and never wrote anything
I'm glad it's Thursday. Also, I watched the second season of SGA and um. I must be missing out on something? It's alright for comfort TV, but I can't get into it. Also, *ducks* I'm somehow oblivious to the chemistry between Sheppard and McKay.

BUT. I've finally started watching BSG and omg. That's some amazing television right there. Almost makes me want to forgive SciFi for canceling Farscape. Almost.

As far as reading goes, I'm actually reading very little fic. I seem to have become a little ADD in regard it, and if a story can't catch me within the first few sentences, I give up. However, I did read that new book on America's religious illiteracy, and I've been randomly giving the quiz from it (with some of my own questions added) to my students.

Me: Where was Jesus born?
Peanuts: Jerusalem.
Me: So it's, "O little town of Jerusalem?"

Me: Name a sacred Hindu text.
Peanuts: Harold and Kumar.

Me: In what country did Buddhism originate?
Peanuts: California.

Me: Buddhism's Four Noble Truths?
Peanuts: Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you may die.

Me: Jainism's greatest contribution to the world?
Peanuts: Jane Austen.

Anyway. I'm also re-reading Judith Tarr's Avaryan Rising series. Because it's good fantasy. Even if Elian is a red-haired Mary Sue. And if you wade through it until the third book, The Fall of Princes, you get the m/m. HI. ESCAPSIM, ANYONE?

I'm also, as we speak, ordering a book on Allen Iverson. Just for fun.

Speaking of, here. Have, perhaps, the most compelling pic of AI ever in the history of ever. I want to write something about it. Something wistful and soft and melancholy. (I'll throw in some really, um, interesting Melo/Kobe pics for good measure.)

This is Kobe and Melo before the game.

This is AI. He's pretty hot shit.

Sometimes, he just likes to hang out, bullshit around with Camby and Melo. Y'know. Whatever.

But sometimes, he shows you his softer side.

Which really only happens when he sees this.

(Okay, I posted that one before, but COME ON.)

Ghetto tattoos make me sad.

As for SGA . . . your slash nerve is sleeping on the job, man. Sheppard and McKay are so doin' it.

I may have to indoctrinate you into CrackTorchwood.

You'll have to tell me what happened with the banner. I was hoping to see it first hand. :(

Also, I've been wanting to see this Torchwood you speak of.

I may get it. Nana gave me permission, sooooo . . . ugh, long story. We'll emo ourselves out over liquor. AND watch Torchwood. I suspect you'll dig it.

Lovely pictures, except for the...um. Well, you know. The one you like, but the one which I am not so keen on. However. Bless you for bringing back the shirtless!Melo pic. That made my day :)

There can never be too much shirtless!Melo, as he is well aware. Interestingly, after the Lakers game, he stripped off his jersey and signed it for someone. I like to think it was for Jack Nickelson, but I couldn't exactly tell.

Aw, AI. I miss him.

I don't get the SGA thing, either. I like the show all right - it's one of those things I'll watch if there's nothing else on, but I don't see much Sheppard/McKay. Maybe Beckett/McKay. *shrug*

I wonder if he misses Philly? He seems a teeny bit happier out here than he was there, maybe? Like, he's getting a fresh start? I don't know.

YES. I get a strong Beckett/McKay vibe and nothin' from the Sheppard front. I lose at SGA, I guess.

He definitely seems a lot less stressed in the pictures I've seen. I think in Philly, practically the whole burden of the team was on him, and I think it's not like that out there. (Hilariously, we still have Andre Iguodala, so people *still* talk about AI. Hee.)

You don't lose at SGA, you're just on a slightly different frequency from the fandom zeitgeist... Oddly, I was always a fan of the Weir/Sheppard/McKay OT3, even though plain ol' Sheppard/McKay never did anything for me.
